Iris van Daalen and Ruben Thier share a fascination for light, reflection, geometric and organic shapes, combined with the transience of nature. They see it as a challenge to translate these fascinations into sustainable designs.
At OBJECT 2020 studio Thier&vanDaalen will present their collection of furniture pieces made from leftover plastics. They select the most interesting organic shaped lumps straight from the factories and transform them into wall pieces, candle holders, vessels, mirrors and side tables. Studio Thier&vanDaalen puts as little as possible energy into the plastic to minimalize any possible negative effects for the environment. Most pieces will be cut in two (by saw or CNC milling) to reveal their marble pattern and make them functional for in- and outside use.
