Fransje Gimbrère is a multidisciplinary designer and graduated in 2017 from the Design Academy in Eindhoven. Her work ‘Standing Textile(s)’ are 3D-woven sculptures that implement textile into the interior in a new way. A lack of support and hollowness make them seem on the edge of breaking, though their structure is strong and sturdy. Each object is built up, thread by thread, on a custom-made weaving loom, resulting in an engaging play of repetition and overlapping lines. This method creates endless possibilities in color, shape, material and application and fuses the craft of weaving, with new technologies and aesthetics.
